Advanced Civilization

£4.99

Based on the boardgame with same name this game places you as a nation in the Mediterranean to rise and become the supreme ruler. Spanning about 8000 years, it covers the development of ancient civilizations from the start of agriculture to the emergence of Rome as the domimant power. Although military strategies are possible it’s far from any wargame as the main goal is to gain an overall advancement involving cultural, economic, political and religious powers. The battles which emerge are normally the result of shortage of land rather than attempts to eliminate other nations. The player who effectively balances each aspect of the game will build the strongest civilization and win the game.

Advanced Civilization enhances the game as much as it expands it, clarifying rules and simplifying certain aspects of the game. New features include:
Assigning points to position on the Archaeological Succession Table (AST), rather than void a player from winning who has fallen behind in development
Unlimited Civilization cards, omitting the fight to acquire advances before other players
Seven new commodity cards, making the ever-important trade phase far more exciting
Four new calamity cards
Introduction of non-tradeable calamities
Eight new Civilization cards, including a new group: religion
Simplified trade to speed the game up
Rules for 8 players
Rules for late-comers and those that leave early

5 Day Premium Trial
